Robert Schalkenbach Foundation Progress of Ideas Grant

The Robert Schalkenbach Foundation (RSF) is committed to supporting original research that carries the ideas of 19th century economist and social reformer Henry George into the 21st century and beyond. To this end, RSF supports the conduct of original research into topics of social justice, land use, and public finance.

Grants will be made to support original research projects in the following areas of inquiry:

The relationship between infrastructure spending and economic rents, including estimates and suitability of future economic rents as a source of funding for infrastructure spending;

Climate change adaptation and mitigation as impacted and/or funded by taxes on pollution and other drivers of climate change; The impact of climate change on land value and government finances based on property and land value; Gentrification and displacement as influenced or mitigated by property taxes (effects of land value or split-rate taxation are of particular interest); The relationship between evictions and property taxes and/or land value taxes, including policies such as rental assistance and eviction moratoriums.
